Looking for furniture? Choose the shop before the sofa
Use published furniture ranges to plan a visit, while keeping live stock and donation acceptance separate.
Compiled by Find an Op Shop from linked operator sources. Reviewed 25 October 2026.
Some op shops publish a furniture range; others explicitly have no furniture. Using that distinction can save a trip, even though it cannot tell you which sofa, desk or dining table is on the floor today.
Use a published range as the starting filter
BSL Brunswick includes furniture in its stated range. BSL Eltham explicitly says it has no furniture. Both are op shops, but they serve different shopping plans.
The furniture range filter uses positive published evidence. A shop with an unknown range does not become a furniture match.
Then confirm the practical details
- Check whether the item you want is currently available.
- Bring your measurements and check access at home.
- Ask the shop about collection, delivery, holds and payment arrangements.
- Confirm normal and holiday shopping hours before travelling.
Selling furniture does not mean accepting every donation
Do not infer donation acceptance from the shop’s stock range. A shop may sell furniture but decline a particular size, condition or category. Review the published policy and ask the branch about capacity before transporting a donation.
Our records keep published ranges, shopping hours and donation guidance in separate fields so those distinctions survive the search filters.
Put it into practice.
Compare published ranges, shopping hours and donation information separately.
